Our time, Kira Cook
We greet each other
Gazing in awe
Is this a miracle?
A blessing, It is normal,
But somehow I feel so special
I want this moment to extend an eternity
Time stands still
Peace pervades
All around, quiet
As we bond our hearts skipping a beat
I am falling in love
I am forever thankful.
You are a part of me
But I do not own you
Birth – Rhythm & Flow, by Kira Cook
She listens, she feels
Softly stroking her belly in the night
Some time in the future,
But wonders, when?
Her body ripens, softens
Earth is calling her
Mothers of past, present and future whisper to her -
` The time is near, Be present, stay here´
She yields and her body awakens,
The birth dance has begun.
Her sounds are soft
From whence they enter they soon disappear
She dances, she rocks and sways
Rhythmically pulsing, she moans
Softly at first, then deep and loud,
Her ancesters hear her and whisper,
`Be strong, be proud!´
She enters a space,
Beyond all time
Long into the night
She dances, she rocks and sways
A moment of fear, doubt creeps in
`I can´t do this´ she tears
A doula strokes her, and in her ear
` Yes you can, my dear´
She pauses , she sighs
She remembers …she is wise
Deep down in her body the surge begins
And she bears down,
Upright, earth bound.
Opening, expanding….
She chants , she groans
Not much longer
She knows, her baby will be here
Again she presses
With one last effort
She arches her back, laughs and cries
`Oh my baby!´ as he arrives.
Placed on her belly, she embraces him
They gaze into each others eyes
In awe, they bond, they sing
The dance of life begins.
